Curtis Granderson got things started quickly with a leadoff homer. The Tigers then tacked on five more runs, while Jair Jurrjens took a no-hitter into the sixth. After a Nick Punto double broke up the bid, the Twins made it exciting by bringing the tying run into scoring position in the ninth, but Todd Jones held on for his 300th career save.
For the second straight day, a Twins starter struggled early on, and the offense couldn't bail him out. Scott Baker gave up four runs before settling in, but the damage was already done. The Twins made it close by loading the bases in both the eighth and ninth innings, but they never got the hit they needed to break through.
