Tigers stay alive in playoff race
Royals can't close it
The Royals established a 4-0 lead in the first three innings on Friday, but slowly let the Tigers creep back into the game, and fell to Detroit. A throwing error in the sixth by Jason Smith and a poor fielding choice by John Bale led to the loss. Smith had a two-run homer.
