Jays' sub sinks Yanks
Litsch fills in flawlessly
With A.J. Burnett unable to pitch on Monday, the Blue Jays asked rookie Jesse Litsch to cover, and he didn't disappoint. Litsch earned the Jays a split of their four-game series with 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball to top veteran Andy Pettitte. John McDonald doubled in a three-run second inning.

Series at a glance:
Home slate ends quietly
In their last home game of the regular season, the Yankees made little noise, falling two games behind the Red Sox in the American League East, although their magic number to clinch a playoff berth fell to one with a Tigers loss. Andy Pettitte was done in by a three-run second inning, taking his ninth loss.
