The Giants closed an opening month that saw them exceed expectations with a victory thanks to Jose Castillo's first homer since Aug. 14, 2006, ending a streak of 450 at-bats without a long ball. The bullpen contributed 4 1/3 hitless innings, and Fred Lewis made a great game-saving catch.
