Hideki Matsui helped Chien-Ming Wang avoid a tough-luck loss with a game-tying homer in the ninth, but Mariano Rivera was unable to prevent a Yankees defeat, allowing the winning run to score in the 11th. Wang was strong for seven frames, allowing just one run, but got no support.
