It looked as though the Royals would suffer a third straight late-game heartbreaker to the Rangers. Instead, the offense rallied for two runs in the eighth inning. Though he didn't get the win, starter Brian Bannister gave a gutsy performance by throwing 127 pitches in seven innings.
