With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, Gabe Gross hit a two-out RBI single, but that would be all the Rays would be able to produce in their late-game rally. Rays starter Edwin Jackson, who had an 11.88 ERA in three career starts vs. the Marlins entering the game, gave up a pair of three-run homers and lasted just five innings.
