Mariners avoid sweep
Photos
Mariners 4, Royals 3
Carlos Silva went six innings, giving up two runs while striking out five on Sunday. (AP)
Jeff Clement blasted a two-run homer to give the Mariners a one-run lead, but after the Royals came back to tie it, Seattle took advantage of Kansas City's defensive miscue as catcher John Buck threw the ball away while having Adrian Beltre in a rundown, allowing Beltre to score and help the Mariners avoid the sweep.
