Andy Sonnanstine looked unhittable early on Thursday, retiring 17 in a row at one point, but he left in the eighth after letting the Mariners tie the game. Dan Wheeler came on in the ninth and gave up a walk-off home run to the first batter he faced, Raul Ibanez.
