Hoping to keep their postseason dreams alive, the Yanks beat the Rays for their third straight win, and in the victory, Alex Rodriguez belted career homer No. 549, which was historic for two reasons. It gave him sole possession of 12th on the all-time list, and his disputed homer became the first one used in instant replay.
