Though Johan Santana pitched seven solid innings on Wednesday, setup man J.J. Putz had trouble in the eighth, allowing a two-run single to Cody Ross to erase the Mets' one-run lead. Fernando Tatis homered in the seventh inning to put his squad ahead at the time.
