The Rangers used home runs from Marlon Byrd, Andruw Jones and Nelson Cruz to snatch a victory in the first game of a doubleheader. Cruz drove in a pair in the first, but Texas was then held hitless until Byrd's big fly in the seventh. Tommy Hunter delivered 5 1/3 solid innings.
