Gil Mech was on pace for his first victory at Tropicana Field through six. And, despite allowing a solo homer in the seventh, the coast still seemed clear due to Billy Butler's two-run double in the third. However, Jamey Wright allowed the decisive homer in the eighth as the Royals lost their seventh straight.
