Josh Geer put the Padres in an early five-run hole, but the bats came alive in the fifth and sixth innings, when San Diego scored three runs. Everth Cabrera stroked his first career homer in the sixth inning, and Adrian Gonzalez followed with the 123rd shot of his career to pull the Padres within two runs.
