The spotlight was on Pedro Martinez in his first Phillies start, and the future Hall of Famer delivered an effective five-inning outing, allowing three runs. Raul Ibanez, Shane Victorino and Jimmy Rollins all went deep for the Phils, who lead the National League East by 4 1/2 games.
