The Red Sox -- and their AL Wild Card lead -- were down to their final strike on Friday after pinch-runner and birthday boy Clay Buchholz was thrown out at home on Dustin Pedroia's double. But Victor Martinez's two-run double was part of a six-run ninth, extending Boston's lead to 1 1/2 games over Texas.
