Andrew McCutchen continued his rookie campaign by practically carrying the Pirates over the Brewers in the series opener, but his club fell just shy -- as did McCutchen, in a sense, as he was a triple short of the cycle. An outpouring of offense was necessary after Zach Duke struggled.
