Scott Richmond continued his struggles early against the Twins, giving up five runs in the first, before settling down. Jose Bautista, in the game because of Aaron Hill leaving to be with his pregnant wife, hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. Vernon Wells added an RBI single in the fifth.
