Giants drop series

Padres 4, Giants 2
Barry Zito rubs up a new ball after an Adrian Gonzalez homer. (Marcio Jose Sanchez/AP)
The Giants' home magic proved elusive, as Barry Zito gave up three runs in five innings and the Giants did little offensively to counter that. Andres Torres provided the only two runs with a homer, one of only five hits as San Francisco lost two of three and hurt its Wild Card chances.
