Vying for a 17th victory that would have put him in a tie for the American League lead, Scott Feldman took a one-hit shutout into the sixth. However, the A's hung six runs on him over the next 1 1/3 innings, and the Rangers fell to 4 1/2 games behind the Red Sox in the AL Wild Card race.
