A's Macy's 5K Fun Run

Online pre-registration is now closed, but runners can sign up at the race and still run! Race day registration will be open from 7:00-8:00am on Saturday, May 8th. Event day registration is $35.

If you pre-registered and have not been mailed your bib and information packet, please check in at the Pre-Registration table to pick up your packet.


A Serious Problem
Because breast cancer will strike one out of nine women in their lifetime, everyone knows someone with the disease. Advances in diagnostic techniques and therapies have given us great improvements in survival, but we are still at a loss as to what causes breast cancer, why it spreads, and why it recurs.

The Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center Mission Statement
Money raised in this run will be donated to the Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center at UCSF, whose mission is "to provide innovative, comprehensive breast care that addresses the needs of the whole person. To do this, we combine high-quality, patient centered care with rigorous scientific research."

Run to Raise Money
Each year, the Oakland A's and Macy's team up for this 5K Fun Run in order to raise money for breast cancer research and education. While the problem for which we all run is a serious one, we want you all to have fun while participating in the event! Dress up in a crazy costume, anything you like...and keep in mind that the best costume wins a prize! Run for our sisters, mothers and wives, and have fun while doing it!

Schedule of Events
6:30am   Parking Gate Opens
7:00am-8:00am   Even Registration/Check-In
8:00am   Stretching with A's Coaches
8:30am   Shotgun Start
9:30am-12:00pm   Post-race Festivities
Includes live music, tailgate party, and award ceremonies
1:05pm   A's vs. Minnesota Twins
(Game tickets are included with Race Registration)

Fees: Pre-registration fee is $25 per runner. Deadline for pre-registration is May 1, 2004. Registration fee for entries received after May 1st and day-of-race is $35 per runner. Entries received after May 1st will not have their packets mailed out and can be picked up at the registration area on race day. Event t-shirts for all participants will not be mailed and will be available for pick-up at the registration area on race day. Additional game tickets and tailgate party tickets are available for $20 per guest. Race will take place rain or shine.

Raising Funds
Registration Fee: The registration fee also counts as your minimum donation/amount of money raised for our cause.

Pledges: Any additional money that you raise will be in the form of a pledge (from yourself or any other person). Whatever money you raise must either be returned with your completed registration form, or can be brought with you on the day of the race and returned at the pledge area. There are several levels of monetary incentives in concordance with pledge goals.

Raise Money for the Cause and Qualify for Great Prizes
If you raise:
$25:   One official Oakland A's 5K Fun Run t-shirt
$100:   One A's Bobblehead
$500:   One autographed baseball signed by Mark Mulder, Barry Zito, and Tim Hudson
$1,000:   Four Field Level tickets to an A's game, Batting Practice visit, an autographed Eric Chavez ball and the opportunity to have your picture taken with Eric Chavez!

The runner/individual raising the most money will receive First Class roundtrip tickets for two on Delta Air Lines to anywhere in the Continental U.S. (Minimum $2,000 raised).

Top Finishers Receive:
  • A two-night stay at Lake Tahoe's award-winning Resort at Squaw Creek (Male and Female categories).
  • Macy's Electronic Gift Cards (Juniors, Teens, Masters categories).
