Players are investing in the future of the game with their longstanding partnership with USA Baseball.
The Players Association is the title sponsor of the Golden Spikes Award, given annually to the nation's top amateur baseball player, and supports USA Baseball's athlete development programs.
"Major League players are well known for the support they demonstrate to causes dear to their hearts," said Don Fehr, the MLBPA's executive director. "Players also recognize the significant role USA Baseball plays in providing players of all ages with opportunities for development and worldwide competition."
More than 100 former USA Baseball Team members are on Major League rosters, including former Golden Spikes Award winners Jason Varitek, Mark Kotsay, J.D. Drew, Pat Burrell, Phil Nevin, Jason Jennings, Mark Prior and Khalil Greene.
In addition to title sponsorship of the Golden Spikes Award, the MLBPA provides financial support for USA Baseball National Teams and corresponding development events.
"The Major League Baseball Players Association has been a strong supporter of USA Baseball for over a decade," said Paul Seiler, USA Baseball Executive Director/CEO.
USA Baseball is the National Governing Body of amateur baseball in the United States and a member of the United States Olympic Committee.
The organization selects and trains the USA Baseball Olympic Team, the USA Baseball National Team, the USA Baseball Junior National team (18-under), and the USA Baseball Youth National Team (16-under) which participate in various international competitions each year.
