|MLBPA Press Release|
Pauley and Action Team® captains will transform the food bank into a ballpark of produce and nutritional food while food-bank customers round the bases to receive a three-day supply of emergency food. They will also sort and bag food that will be delivered to home-bound seniors.
Volunteers of America's North Seattle Food Bank is one of two food banks operated by Volunteers of America Western Washington, which combined serve more than 6,000 individuals each month with an emergency food supply. These food banks also coordinate a home-delivery program that delivers to more than 260 home-bound seniors each month.
Administered by Volunteers of America and the Major League Baseball Players Trust, the Action Team national youth volunteer program encourages young people throughout the United States to volunteer in their communities. Launched in 2003, the Action Team program now enjoys the support of more than 160 high schools in 33 states and Puerto Rico. Since its inception, the Action Team has inspired more than 26,000 high school students to help over 111,000 people in need. In 2010-11, more than 800 Action Team captains have planned over 400 volunteer projects in their communities. For more information, please visit www.ActionTeam.org.
