See the Phanatic Around the Town »
Throughout the 2010 baseball season, The Phillies and the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GTPMC) teamed up for the "Phanatic Around Town" public art project. "Phanatic Around Town" features twenty Phillie Phanatic statues, all of which were painted by local artists and displayed throughout Philadelphia from April through August.
Online auctions began with the first four statues on Friday, August 27, with the remaining statues going up for bid throughout the month of September.
Net proceeds from the sale of each Phanatic statue will be directed to the Phillies Charities, Inc. Grant Fund.
Phillies Charities, Inc. serves as the fundraising arm of the Philadelphia Phillies. Through a year-long campaign, Phillies Charities raises dollars to award grants to charitable organizations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and near The Phillies spring training and minor league affiliates. In 2009, dozens of grants were awarded to local organizations including underprivileged and underserved children's groups, educational and sports programs and children battling serious illnesses and disabilities.
