The second annual Pittsburgh Pirates 5K Home Run, benefiting Pirates Charities, took place on Pittsburgh's North Shore on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Over 3,100 participants took part by either running or walking the course that began on Federal Street outside PNC Park. The 5K Home Run was open to fans of all ages and abilities and even families were able to take part by joining the One Mile Family Fun Run, presented by DiBella's Subs.
The second annual event was a great success as participants raised more than $80,000 for Pirates Charities.
The top male and female 5K runners in each age category (under 15, 16-19 and 10-year groups from 20 to 70-plus) and the top male, female and co-ed teams were recognized on the field prior to the game against the Cardinals at PNC Park on April 21.
