Hello Fans,

Last Wednesday, I chose the winners of my May Fan Sweepstakes. Click here and see the winners.

This is a note from my April Fan of the Month, Michael Griffin from Richmond, VA.

"Dear Barry,
Thanks for making all this possible, and selecting me as April's winner. I hope you recover well from your injury. Baseball is just not the same without you. No one can hit the 100 mph pitch from Eric Gagne into the stands. I really miss the excitement you bring to the game. Best wishes and thanks again.
Michael Griffin"

Thursday morning I went to see Star Wars Episode III and I have to say that I really enjoyed the movie. The emails are coming fast as well as the movie recommendations.

Last week, I gave a few interviews to the media to update them on my condition. I told them about being on IV antibiotics, 24 hours a day, for two weeks. I also shared my true thoughts and feelings during those first two weeks. I thought I was going to die. The medication was so strong, it made me sick and I literally just slept for days. The doctors had told me that if my bone got infected, there was a possibility that I could lose my leg. I wanted everyone to understand how serious my situation was and all I wanted to do is focus on my health, not when I was coming back on the field.

Saturday, I went to the unveiling and dedication of the Juan Marichal Statue at SBC Park. It was a wonderful event to honor Juan, and I actually had time to sit down with him and talk some baseball. His wife, Alma, was there with their daughters, whom I grew up with. It's been years since I've seen them so it was so much fun to catch up. I want to thank Juan, Alma and my mother for keeping our families close together. It was also a great honor to meet Dr. Leonel Fernandez, President of the Dominican Republic and first lady Margarita Fernandez.

After the dedication, I met with Dr. Armstrong, who said that the IV antibiotics are working and there are no more signs of infection. I'm still taking antibiotic pills until Dr. Armstrong and Dr. Ting say otherwise, but everything is looking good. My blood tests are at the right levels and the X-Rays look fine.We agreed that I could start my rehab this week. I'm still doing range of motion exercises, starting to lift light weights with both legs and doing lots of abdominal work. I'm definitely not running yet. Finally, my knee is responding like my left knee did after the surgery in October. Obviously, because of the multiple surgeries and the infection, this time I have to take it a little easier.
