May 29, 2006 Dear Fans, I was 9 1/2 years old in 1974 when Hank Aaron hit his 714th home run to tie Babe Ruth. Never at that time could I have ever imagined achieving the same numbers. I have the utmost respect for both of these men having each carved out and cemented their place in history. It is an honor to sit between these legends on the all-time home run list. With all the attention surrounding this milestone, I only hope that Hank receives his due credit as the Home Run King. I'm sitting here in Miami on Memorial Day, the morning after hitting my 715th home run, reliving the moment in my mind. I'd like to say thanks to my son, Nikolai, for asking me Saturday night to hit the home run at home so he could be there and not have to watch it on TV. It was unfortunate that my mom, wife and two daughters could not be there to celebrate with us. But they were in my thoughts. When I hit 714 in Oakland, I was happy that it took place in the Bay Area. The Oakland fans were amazing, really enjoyed the moment. On the other hand, hitting 715 in front of a sold out crowd of Giants fans was spectacular! I was hoping to give this piece of baseball history to my fans, the ones who have supported and loved me over the years -- they deserved it. Fortunately, I have been lucky enough to hit many of my milestone home runs at home in San Francisco. This one ranks up there with hitting my 660th home run, tying my godfather, Willie. Although we didn't win the game, my teammates fully embraced the moment with me. We shared a private time in the clubhouse immediately after the game. I'd like to thank the guys for their support throughout all this chaos. This is the best group of guys I have ever played with. To all my fans, especially the online ones, I have not forgotten about you. Your e-mails have been pouring in and we're reading as many of them as possible. My journal updates will come more frequently, now that I have more time to focus on baseball. Later, Barry Bonds P.S. -- I'd like to congratulate Albert Pujols on his early success this year. Stay focused and go for the record -- I'm behind you 100%.
