Dear Fans,

The All-Star Game last week was an experience I will never forget - the pre-game ceremonies with the emotional salute to my godfather, Willie Mays, the Red Carpet Parade interacting with the fans, and most of all playing in my home ball park for an All-Star Game. Those few days also gave me a chance to catch up with my first manager, Jim Leyland, as well as visit with longtime friends and fellow players.

The night before the game I hosted a party with the 40/40 club to celebrate the All Star Game being in San Francisco. It was a great event and I’d like to thank everyone who came out, especially Willie Mays, Willie McCovey and all the players. Also, thank you to all the sponsors who helped make the night possible.

During the Chicago series I sat out the first three games giving my body a rest. I really was feeling sore and tired after the weekend series with the Dodgers where we played 30 innings in three days. Yesterday I felt rested and ready to play and I think my offensive play was a direct result from the days off.

Right now I am trying to keep my focus on playing baseball and helping my team win. I recognize that what I am doing is very special and very historical but I will continue to concentrate on keeping things as normal as I can and go out there and do my job. It is exciting for all of us – my family, my friends and especially my fans and I look forward to celebrating with them.

Thanks for the support.

Barry
