The Giants, Giants Community Fund, San Francisco Sheriff's Department and the Family Violence Prevention Fund annually hold a day that honors survivors of violence and organizations who are committed to stopping violence in our communities. Survivors of violence, violence prevention grant recipients and Junior Giants Imagine Peace contest winners are recognized on the field during a pre game ceremony. Strike Out Violence Day is Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012.
Strike Out Violence Day also includes the annual Jerseys Off Our Giants raffle to benefit La Casa de las Madres. More than 100 volunteers sell $1 raffle tickets throughout the ballpark for the chance to win an autographed Giants jersey. Since 2002, over $170,000 has been raised to benefit La Casa de las Madres, which offers support services for battered women and their children.
The Giants Community Fund created the following programs to address violence prevention needs in the Junior Giants communities. These programs provide a forum for participants to discuss methods of preventing violence in their neighborhoods.
In an effort to address the rising violence in our communities, the Giants Community Fund established the Junior Giants Violence Prevention Speaker's Program. Youth advocate and comedian, Michael Pritchard, annually visits Junior Giants leagues to speak with kids, coaches and parents about respect, gang prevention and anti-bullying messages.

Junior Giants Imagine Peace contest is an opportunity for kids to artistically express what their community would look like if it was violence free. Kids can submit a poem, song, or piece of art that communicates this message. The contest winners are recognized during the Strike Out Violence day pre game ceremony.

At the beginning of each season, Junior Giants are asked to sign a Peace Pledge to show that peace starts within you. By signing this pledge, all Junior Giants will commit to leading a violence-free and peaceful life!
