Longtime Angel returns to the organization after a 15-year hiatus...2013 will mark his 25th season with the Angels, 19th as a coach, and first since 1996...Knoop last held a position at the Major League level with the Colorado Rockies where he was a scout (2008) and later named Senior Advisor, Player Development (2009)...The former Angel second baseman returns to the coaching ranks after last appearing with the Blue Jays as manager Jim Fregosi's first base coach during the 2000 season...Prior to Toronto, spent 18 seasons (1975-1976; 1979-1996) as the Angels' first and third base coach...Was the club's interim manager for two games in 1994, going 1-1...At the time of his depature, established the longest tenure in club history...Spent the 1977-1978 seasons as a Major League coach for the White Sox before returning to the Angels in 1979...Began his coaching caeer with the Angels in 1975...Spent part of the '75 season as a minor league instructor before moving over to manage Quad Cities of the Midwest League in the second half of the season...Led the club to a first place finish but lost in championship series...Managed El Paso to a second place finish in the Texas League during the 1976 season...Played nine years at the major league level batting .236 (856/3622) with 56 home runs and 331 RBI with the Angels (1964-1969), White Sox (1969-1970) and Royals (1971-1972)...Four-time recipient of the Angels' Owner's Trophy (1964-1966 & 1968), presented annually to the club's MVP...He and Garret Anderson are the only players to ever win the award four times...Originally signed by the Milwaukee Braves as an amateur free agent before the 1956 season and was a Rule 5 Draft pick by the Angels from the Braves on Dec. 2, 1963.
