Completed his second season as the bench coach with D-backs in 2008 after having
served in the same position for the Detroit Tigers from 2003-05...was also a color
analyst with the Tigers from 1998-2002.
Played an integral role on two World Championship teams and batted .268 with 255
home runs, 870 RBI and 284 stolen bases during a distinguished 17-year playing career
with the Tigers (1979-87, 1993-95), Los Angeles Dodgers (1988-90), Kansas City
Royals (1991) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1992).
Earned ALCS MVP honors after the Tigers swept the Royals in the 1984 ALCS and
then hit 2 home runs in Game 5 of the World Series, including an eighth-inning, 3-run
homer off the Padres Goose Gossage that iced the game and the series for the Tigers.
Hit a pinch-hit, game-winning 2-run homer off the As Dennis Eckersley in Game 1 of
the 1988 World Series that set the tone for the Dodgers to win the series in 5 games.
Earned National League MVP honors in 1988 after batting .290 with 25 home runs
and 76 RBI for the Dodgers.
Was a teammate with Bob Melvin in 1985 with the Tigers...also was a Tigers broadcaster
when Melvin was the Tigers bench coach in 2000.

Kirk Harold Gibson...Married to Joanne with four children, Colleen, Kirk, Kevin and Cameron...Attended Michigan State, playing baseball and football, where he was an All-American
wide receiver and outfielder in both sports...Drafted in 1978 by the Detroit Tigers in the first round (12th overall) in baseball as
well as the St. Louis Cardinals in football.
