Full Name:

Dave Jauss is in his second season as a Major League Coach, having joined Manager Clint Hurdle's staff on Oct. 31, 2012. He spent the final month of the 2012 regular season with the big league club and will serve the team as its "eye in the sky," providing thoughts and recommendations to Clint Hurdle and the Major League coaching staff on individual players as well as the entire club.

Jauss spent the 2012 season -- his first with the Pittsburgh organization and his 25th in professional baseball -- as a Special Assistant to General Manager Neal Huntington, assisting in Player Acquisition with an emphasis on Advance Scouting of National League clubs. He also managed the Estrellas club from San Pedro in the Dominican Republic Winter League during the 2012 offseason.

In 2011, Jauss worked with the New York Mets as their Coordinator of Staff Development. He also served the Mets as their Major League Bench Coach in 2010 after working in the same capacity under manager Dave Trembley in Baltimore (2008-09) and under manager Grady Little with the Los Angeles Dodgers (2006-07).

Prior to joining the Dodgers in 2006, Jauss spent 10 seasons working as a coach, scout and administrator in the Boston organization from 1996-2005. He spent the 1995 campaign as Baltimore's coordinator of instruction before being hired by the Red Sox, where he worked as the minor league field coordinator for two years (2000-2001). His last three seasons with Boston (2003-05) were spent in the role of a Major League Advance Scout.

Jauss' start in professional baseball came in 1988 when he managed Montreal's Gulf Coast League team. He spent a total of three seasons as a manager in the Expos' farm system (1988, 1992, 1994), compiled a 188-151 (.555) record and was named Eastern League Manager-of-the-Year after guiding Harrisburg to an 88-51 record and first-place finish in 1994.

Jauss also spent six years as a college head coach before moving to pro ball. He coached at Westfield (MA) State College from 1982-84 and at Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC from 1985-87. He also managed in the New Brunswick Canadian Senior League in 1981-82 and coached for two seasons in the NCAA-sanctioned Cape Cod League with Hyannis in 1983 and 1984.

In addition to the 2012 offseason, Dave managed Licey during the 2009 Dominican Winter League. He also managed Licey three other times (1998-99, 2002) and spent three years (1993-95) as a coach with Caracas in the Venezuelan Winter League.
