Begins his third season on the Major League coaching staff after being appointed on November 16, 2009...Prior
to joining Cleveland he was an Infield and Third Base coach at the Major League level for eleven (11) seasons
with the Seattle Mariners (1996-99), Texas Rangers (2002-06) and Philadelphia Phillies (2007-08) and has 36
seasons of professional baseball experience under his belt since beginning his playing career in 1976...Under his
tutelage as Infield Coach, Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez & Jimmy Rollins earned a total of six (6) Rawlings Gold
Glove Awards...In 2003, the Texas Rangers set a club record for fewest errors in a season while compiling the 2nd
highest fielding % in club history...In 2001-02 was the Milwaukee Brewers' minor league roving infield instructor...
Managed for a total of 11 seasons in the minor leagues and in his final season of 2000 his Indianapolis Indians won
the International League and Triple-A titles...A member of Lou Piniella's staff in Seattle from 1996-99 as Infield and
Third Base coach...Was in the Seattle system as minor league manager and infield instructor from 1991-95...Was
a minor league manager in the San Diego system from 1984-89...Was Sandy Alomar, Jr.'s manager at Beaumont,
Wichita and Las Vegas from 1986-89.
Playing Career
He played for seven seasons in the San Diego Player Development System as a second baseman and shortstop
from 1976-82...San Diego's 24th round pick in the 1976 June draft.
