COACHING CAREER: : Wright begins his 17th season in the Rockies organization, his second season overall as the Rockies head Pitching Coach...Wright was also the club's Pitching Coach in 2002...Wright has spent the last four seasons as the Rockies Bullpen Coach...Wright has overseen the Rockies bullpen success that has seen a number of players thrive, such as Rafael Betancourt, Matt Belisle, Huston Street and Rex Brothers...when he served as the club's pitching coach in 2002 he helped guide Jason Jennings to the National League Rookie of the Year Award that season...Wright served as the organization's roving pitching coordinator for six seasons from 2003-08...from 1999-2001, Wright served as Colorado Springs' pitching coach...he began his career with the Rockies tutoring pitchers at Double-A New Haven from 1997-98...prior to that, he coached in the Phillies farm system from 1990-96, including part of the 1996 campaign as the Major League pitching coach as a replacement for Johnny Podres who was ill...got his start in coaching with the Cubs organization in 1984.

PLAYING CAREER: The right-handed pitcher was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 1980 Rule 5 draft despite missing the 1979 season with an arm injury...made his Major League debut with the Royals on April 22, 1981...spent his final year as a player in the Cubs system and retired after the 1983 season due to arm injuries...threw two Minor League no-hitters (Auburn in 1974 and in 1975 with Spartanburg).
