COACHING CAREER: Blake Doyle returns to the Rockies for his second season coaching at the professional level after spending the previous 33 years as an instructor at the Doyle Baseball Academy in Lakeland, Fla....Doyle was named the Rockies hitting coach on Nov. 26, his first season as the Rockies hitting coach, Doyle's offense led the National League in batting average (.276), runs (755), doubles (307), home runs (186), RBI (721) and slugging percentage (.445)...Doyle is the CEO and a founding member of the Doyle Baseball Academy, which he runs with his brother Denny...the academy is considered one of the nation's premier baseball academies, working with such Major League players as Jeff Baker, Casey Blake, J.D. Drew, Charles Johnson, Paul Konerko, Derek Lee, Paul Lo Duca, Gary Sheffield, Tim Wakefield, Raul Ibanez and Rockies Manager Walt Weiss during their youth and professional playing days.

PLAYING CAREER: Doyle played parts of nine Minor League seasons in the Baltimore and Cincinnati organizations from 1972-80, after being selected by Baltimore in the fourth round of the 1972 June draft...he spent his last four seasons of professional baseball at the Triple-A level...over his career, Doyle hit .269 (856-for-3186) in 906 games.

PERSONAL: Doyle and his wife Jean Anne have been married for 38 years...they have one son, Matt, who along with his wife Katie have a daughter, Lilly.
