2011: Managed the final two games of the season after Ozzie Guillen was released from his contract on 9/26, going 1-1 vs. Toronto ... won his debut, 2-1, on 9/27 and lost the season finale, 3-2 ... according to the Elias Sports Bureau, he was the 38th manager in White Sox history ... the Sox ranked second in the American League with a franchise-record 1,220 strikeouts, tied for sixth with 90 quality starts and ranked eighth with a 4.10 ERA ... the Sox also set franchise records for bullpen strikeouts (479) and 41 games with 10 or more strikeouts ... the pen averaged 9.83 strikeouts per 9.0 ip, the second-highest mark in Major League history behind the 2010 Atlanta Braves (10.06) ... 2009: The Sox led the AL for the second straight season with 86 quality starts and ranked second with a 4.14 ERA ... the starters tied Tampa Bay for the AL lead with 970.0 ip ... Buehrle threw the 18th perfect game in Major League history on 7/23 vs. Tampa Bay ... Buehrle also set a Major League record by retiring 45 consecutive batters over three starts from 7/18-28, breaking the record of 41 shared by teammate Bobby Jenks.
2008: White Sox pitchers led the AL with 93 quality starts ... four members of the starting rotation recorded 10 or more victories ... Jenks became the first Sox pitcher to collect at least 30 saves in three consecutive seasons.
2007: White Sox starters ranked second in the AL with 1,016.0 ip and fourth with 88 quality starts ... Jenks became the first pitcher in franchise history to record 40 or more saves in back-to-back seasons and tied the Major League record by retiring 41 consecutive batters from 7/17-8/12.
2006: Was a member of the 2006 AL All-Star coaching staff ... Sox starting pitchers led the Major Leagues in IP for the second straight season, throwing 1,042.0 ... Freddy Garcia (216.2), Jon Garland (211.1), Buehrle (204.0) and Javier Vazquez (202.2) all threw 200-plus ip, the second consecutive season the Sox featured four starters with 200.0 or more and 13th time in franchise history ... the White Sox recorded 11 shutouts, their highest total since 1993 ... Garland became the first Sox pitcher to win at least 18 in consecutive seasons since Jack McDowell in 1992-93 ... 2003: Chicago led the AL with 98 quality starts, ranked third with a club-record 1,056 strikeouts and 12 complete games and fourth with a 4.17 ERA ... 98 quality starts was their highest figure since 1974, and the 12 complete games were the most by a Sox team since 1995 ... Esteban Loaiza, a non-roster invitee to Spring Training, went 21-9 with a 2.90 ERA and league-best 207 strikeouts to finish second in the AL Cy Young Award voting.
2002: White Sox went 35-27 with a 4.12 ERA (250 ER /546.2 IP ) after his appointment on 7/22.
