Coaching career
Begins his first season in the White Sox organization as hitting coach … conducted a hitters minicamp for 15 White Sox prospects from 1/14-16/14 … spent the last 10 seasons (2004-13) in the Oakland Athletics organization, including 2012-13 as the organization's Minor League roving hitting instructor … was the A's first base coach from 2009-10 … managed four seasons in the Oakland system from 2005-08, compiling a 297-264 record (.529) with Class-A Stockton (2005-06), Double-A Midland (2007) and Triple-A Sacramento (2008) … led Sacramento to an 83-61 record and won a Triple-A and Pacific Coast League championship with the River Cats, the franchise's second consecutive title … guided Stockton to a 78-62 mark and a postseason appearance in 2005 … began his coaching career as a hitting coach in the St. Louis Cardinals organization from 1999-2003..

Played professionally for seven seasons (1992-98) … appeared in 31 Major League games with Detroit (1995) and San Diego (1996), hitting .256 (11-43) with two home runs and six RBI … hit both of his home runs in back-to-back games on 6/10-11/95 at Minnesota, including a solo shot off Eddie Guardado … batted .241 (397-1,920) with 49 home runs and 203 RBI in 494 games over seven Minor League seasons from 1992-98 … was selected by Toronto in the first round (25th pick) of the 1992 draft out of Arizona State … spent three seasons in the Blue Jays farm system before he was selected by Detroit in the 1994 Rule 5 draft …was traded by Detroit to San Diego with Cade Gasper and Sean Bergmann in exchange for Raul Casanova, Richie Lewis and Melvin Nieves … completed his playing career at Triple-A Memphis in 1998..

Married Theresa … has two children: Joya and Jaryn … is the cousin of former American League All-Star outfielder Ron LeFlore, who played for the White Sox in 1981-82 … attended Arizona State University from 1990-92, where he was teammates with outfielder Mike Kelly, the second overall pick in the 1991 draft, and pitcher Sean Lowe, the 15th selection in 1992 … graduated in 1989 from Culver City (Calif.) High School, the same school that produced former major-leaguer and currrent White Sox radio analyst Darrin Jackson … was drafted by St. Louis in the sixth round of the 1989 draft but did not sign.
