Coaching Career
Mizerock will spend his second straight season in 2009 as Trey Hillmans bullpen coach...Spent the 2002 season at the Major League level as the Royals bullpen coach before moving to the third base
coaching position in 2003 and 2004...Also served as interim manager in 2002 from April 30-May 14...
guided the Royals to a 5-8 record, including a 5-2 mark over his last
7 games...Mizerock spent the 2007 season as manager of Wilmington, leading
the Blue Rocks to the Carolina League playoffs...was the recipient
of the 2007 Dick Howser Award, his second time being honored
with the award (also 1996)...the award is given annually to a player
development department employee for outstanding contributions to
the organization...He served the Royals as a roving catching instructor in 2005 and
2006...Prior to his 1st stint on the Major League staff, he managed in the
Royals farm system for 9 seasons at Eugene (R) in 1993, Rockford
(A) in 1994, Wilmington (A) in 1995-97, Wichita (AA) in 1998-99
and Omaha (AAA) in 2000-01...Compiled a 648-534 record during his 9-year minor league managing
career, leading his clubs to 3 league championship series, winning
titles in 1996 with Wilmington and 1999 with Wichita...Was named Manager of the Year by Baseball America in 1999...named Midwest League Manager of the Year
in 1994...Coached at Eugene in 1992 prior to his managerial career.
Playing Career
Began his professional career as the No. 1 pick by the Houston Astros in the 1979 June Free Agent Draft...Caught parts of 4 seasons in the big leagues, including 3 seasons with Houston and 1 with Atlanta.
