Coaching Career
Seitzer will be in his fourth season as hitting coach after joining the Royals staff on October 13, 2008 ... Under Seitzer's tutelage, last year's club featured a .275 team batting average, the fourth-best in the Majors, and 325 doubles, second most in baseball...the Royals featured a club-record four players with 40+ doubles (4th club in MLB history), including becoming the first team in history to have all three outfielders with 40+ doubles ... The 2010 club finished with a .274 team batting average, the second-best in the Majors to the A.L. Champion Texas Rangers (.276)...in addition, the team struck out just 905 times, the fewest among the 30 teams in baseball ... The hitting coach stint is Seitzer's second in the big leagues...he served as the hitting coach for the eventual N.L. West Champion Arizona Diamondbacks during the first half of the 2007 season.

Playing Career
Played 12 seasons in the Majors with a majority of his time at third base...compiled a .295 career batting average with 285 doubles, 35 triples, 75 home runs and 613 RBI for the Royals (1986-1991), Brewers (1992, 1993-96), Athletics (1993) and Indians (1996-97) ... Was a two-time American League All-Star, appearing in the 1987 and 1995 games ... Following a September call-up in 1986 with the Royals, he became a fixture in Kansas City's lineup in 1987, hitting .323 with 15 home runs and 207 hits, earning All-Star status during his first full season, and finishing second in the American League Rookie of the Year balloting to Oakland's Mark McGwire ... Holds Royal rookie records in games (161), hits (207), singles (151) and walks (80) and is tied with Carlos Beltran in extra-base hits (56) and total bases (301)...led the league in hits, singles and plate appearances (725) ... Is one of three Royals to record six hits in a game, going 6-for-6 on August 2, 1987 vs. Boston ... Ranks eighth on the Royals all-time list with 369 walks while his .380 career on-base pct. as a Royal is first all-time...is one of seven players in Royals history to top the 200 hits mark in a season (207 in 1987) ... Appeared in the postseason twice with the Indians in 1996 and 1997, appearing in the 1997 World Series for the Tribe against Florida.

Kevin and his wife, Beth, reside in Leawood, Kan...they have four sons; Tyler, Brandon, Nick and Cam, and a grandson, Weston...Nick (Graffeo) is a pitcher in the Royals system while Cam, a first baseman, was the 11th-round selection of the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011 ... He owns and operates Mac-N-Seitz, an extremely successful year-around baseball and softball training facility in Kansas City, Mo...co-owns the company with former Royal teammate Mike Macfarlane...the facility has been in business since 1996 and consists of 47,000 square feet of indoor training space.
