COACHING CAREER

Rick Honeycutt enters his 12th season as Dodger pitching coach, the fourth longest tenure of any Major League pitching coach after San Francisco's Dave Righetti (18 seasons), Chicago White Sox's Don Cooper (16) and San Diego's Darren Balsley (15)…in 2016, the Dodgers set a single-season MLB record with 1,510 strikeouts, shattering the previous mark of 1,450 Ks set by the 2014 Indians...since his first season as pitching coach in 2006, Dodger pitchers rank first in the Major Leagues in ERA (3.66), WHIP (1.26), strikeouts (14,115), SO/BB ratio (2.61), fielding-independent pitching (3.68) and all opponents' slash-line numbers (.245/.311/.378/.689)…the Dodgers led the NL in ERA in 2008 (3.68) and 2009 (3.41, first in MLB) and were second in 2012 (3.34) and 2013 (3.25)…spent the 2002-05 seasons as the Dodgers' minor league pitching coordinator…started in the Dodger organization as a consultant, working with minor leaguers in 2001.

PLAYING CAREER

A two-time All-Star (1980, '83), Honeycutt pitched 21 seasons with Seattle (1977-80), Texas (1981-83, 94), Los Angeles (1983-87), Oakland (1987-93, 95), New York Yankees (1995) and St. Louis (1996-97)…appeared in 797 games, the 51st-highest total in Major League history…won a World Series with Oakland in 1989…while with Texas, he led the American League in ERA in 1983 (2.42)…he was originally drafted and signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1976…finished his career with a 109-143 record with 38 saves and a 3.72 ERA…was an All-America first baseman/pitcher at the University of Tennessee after winning the Southeastern Conference batting title with a .404 mark....named to the school's All-Century team in 2009.

PERSONAL

Frederick Wayne Honeycutt and his wife Debbie have two children, Holli (Griffith) and Ricky, and he is the grandfather of five (Haden, Kaylee, Kendall, Brooks and Lucas)…owns a 100-acre ranch in northern Georgia where he hosts a non-profit organization that specializes in hippotherapy for mentally and physically challenged children…also involved with the Ronald McDonald House and in 2016 hosted the 33rd annual Rick Honeycutt Youth Benefit Golf Tournament…in 2006 he was inducted into the Tennessee State Hall of Fame.
