Yeager enters his third season as a catching instructor with the Dodgers and will work with the club's Major League backstops in both Spring Training and throughout the season at Dodger Stadium…Yeager will also periodically visit the Dodgers' minor league partners and work with their catchers....Yeager previously coached in the Dodgers' minor league chain as hitting and catching coach with Class A San Bernardino (1999), Double-A Jacksonville (2005), Triple-A Las Vegas (2006) and Class A Inland Empire (2007). In 2011, Yeager helped coach the catchers at Spring Training at Camelback Ranch-Glendale. He also helped out in the Dodgers' minor league system. Yeager managed the Long Beach Breakers of the independent Western Baseball League in 2000 and 2001 and won a championship in 2001. He served as manager of the Long Beach Armada of the Golden Baseball League in 2008.

Known as a stellar defensive catcher in his 15-season big league career, Yeager was behind the plate for 1,269 career games…was part of the 1981 Dodgers' World Series Tri-MVP group along with Ron Cey and Pedro Guerrero after hitting .286 with two key home runs and four RBI in the club's six-game victory over the Yankees...twice led the National League in caught-stealing percentage (1978, '82)…"Boomer" batted .228 with 102 home runs and 410 RBI with 816 hits between the Dodgers (1972-1985) and Seattle Mariners (1986) during the course of his career…was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the fourth round of the 1967 Amateur Draft.

Steve Yeager resides in Chatsworth with his wife of 22 years, Charlene. He has three children -- Stephen, 35; Joshua, 21; and Evan, 18. Yeager is a longtime member of the Dodger Alumni Association and has worked on the club's behalf at many of the Dodgers' community events through the years. Yeager owns a Jersey Mike's Sub shop in Granada Hills.
