MANAGING/COACHING CAREER

Reid Cornelius begins his 11th season in the Marlins organization and fourth as the Club's bullpen coach...He began his Marlins coaching career in 2003 as Double-A pitching coach, and returned to that post for the 2008 & '09 seasons...In between his stints with the Marlins' Double-A affiliate, he spent five years as the pitching coach for Single-A Jupiter.

PLAYING CAREER

Selected in the 11th round of the 1988 First-Year Player Draft by the Montreal Expos, Cornelius saw Major League action with Montreal (1995), New York-NL (1995) and Florida (1999-2000), compiling an 8-17 record and 4.91 ERA in 45 games (33 starts)...Made Major League debut on April 29, 1995 at Wrigley Field, working 2.0 innings of relief. Was traded to New York-NL for David Segui on June 8, 1995 and made his Mets' debut on August 3 in Cincinnati. Earned first ML win on August 8, 1995 at Philadelphia.

PERSONAL/MISCELLANEOUS

Jonathan Reid Cornelius. He and his wife Marla, have a daughter, Abigail, and son, Samuel...Graduated from Thomasville (AL) High School in 1988 and lettered in baseball and football. Led Thomasville to the state championship in baseball during his senior season and was also a member of the Alabama Sports Festival team and the U.S. Junior National Team that competed in Melbourne, Australia...Signed a letter of intent to attend Mississippi State University, but chose to sign a professional contract with the Montreal Expos.
