COACHING CAREER: Bobby Meacham is in his first season with the Padres...served as the Florida Marlins third base coach in 2006...spent the 2005 season as the Colorado Rockies roving infield coordinator...has a career 363-414 (.467) record in six years as a Minor League manager...managed the Los Angeles Angels Single-A affiliate in Rancho Cucamonga from 2002-04, serving as manager for the California League All-Star team in 2003...joined the Angels after eight years in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization (1994-2001)...served as roving infield instructor (1997-2001), roving baserunning coach (1996) and as a Minor League manager (1994-95)...managed the 1994 Double-A Carolina Mudcats to the league championship series with a 74-66 mark...served as a coach for the Triple-A Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Rockies) in 1993...in his first managerial assignment, led Kansas City's Single-A Eugene affiliate to a 36-40 record in 1992.

PLAYING CAREER: Played six seasons at the Major League level (1983-88) as a shortstop with the New York Yankees...had a career average of .236 (324-for-1371) with eight home runs, eight triples, 58 doubles 114 RBI and 58 stolen bases in 457 games...led the American League in sacrifice hits in consecutive years (14 in 1984; 23 in 1985)...made his Major League debut June 30, 1983 at the age of 22...originally drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round (eighth overall pick) of the 1981 First-Year Player Draft.

PERSONAL: Robert Andrew Meacham attended San Diego State University from 1979-81...teammate of Padres manager Bud Black and Padres legend Tony Gwynn while with the Aztecs...earned All-Conference (WAC) and All-American honors...he and his wife, Gari, reside in Littleton, CO. and have two daughters, Brooke and Alexandra and a son, Colton.
