Coaching Career

Dave Eiland is in his fifth season as the Royals' pitching coach in 2015...named to Ned Yost's staff on October 25, 2011... Under Eiland's direction, the Royals pitching staff has ranked in the top four in ERA in each of the last two seasons, which included leading the American League with a 3.45 average in was Kansas City's first ER A title since 1986, and the lowest season average the team has produced since a 3.44 mark in 1978...In 2015, the Royals' bullpen set a franchise record with 56 saves, which ranked third in the Majors... KC's bullpen also ranked second in the big leagues in ERA (2.69)... Appeared in 92 career Major League games, including 70 starts, over 10 seasons with the Yankees (1988-91, 1995), Padres (1992-93) and Devil Rays (1998-2000)...Compiled a 12-27 record with a 5.74 ERA (373.0 IP, 238 ER)...underwent a pair of "Tommy John" surgeries, resulting in his retirement in 2002...Originally a seventh-round pick of the Yankees in 1987...was the Yankees' Minor League Pitcher of the Year and International League Pitcher of the Year in 1990.

Dave and his wife, Sandra, reside in Wesley Chapel, Fla....they have two daughters: Nicole (21) and Natalie (18)...Played baseball and football at the University of Florida in 1985 before transferring to the University of South Florida in 1986...earned All-Sun Belt honors and was a preseason All-American...Graduated from Zephyrhills (Fla.) High where he played baseball, football and basketball...In 1999, he served as a consultant as well as a body double for Kevin Costner in the film "For Love of the Game"...
