Accepts first job coaching at the professional level and returns to the organization that drafted him in the 3rd round of
the 1988 First-Year Player Draft...was named the Nationals first base coach on October 24, 2008...brings wealth of
experience based on 17 big-league seasons as an outfielder with MON (1989-94), ATL (1995-96), CLE (1997), MIL
(1998-00), LAD (2001-02) and SFG (2003-05)...one of just 7 players in big league history to record 2000 hits, 200
homers and 400 stolen bases, joining: Rickey Henderson, Barry Bonds, Craig Biggio, Paul Molitor, Joe Morgan and
Roberto Alomar...batted .272 (2251-for-8275) with 227 home runs, 967 RBI and 429 stolen bases in 2165 big-league
games and finished career with 2 All-Star nods (1993-94) and 4 Gold Gloves (1993-96)...batted .317 (69-for-218, 5
HR, 20 RBI) in 4 post-seasons with ATL (1995-96), CLE (1997) and SFG (2003)...was named MVP of the 1997 ALCS

.390 (30-for-77) mark in 19 World Series games...named ALCS MVP with CLE in 97...reached double-digits for home
runs in 13 straight seasons from 1992-2004, hitting a career-best 23 homers with ATL in 1996...reached the 20-steal
plateau 10 times and led the NL in stolen bases twice, in 1991 (76 SB) and 1992 (78 SB)...finished 3rd in NL in hits in
1993 (188 H) and 1996 (207 H) and hit career-best 23 home runs with ATL in 1996...had finest offensive season with
ATL in 1996, batting .308 with 23 home runs, 74 RBI and 28 SB...registered strong fielding numbers to validate 4 Gold
