Biography:
Graduated in 1993 from Trinity High School in Manchester, N.H., where he earned Athlete-of-the-Year honors as a senior... was selected all-state for three years in both baseball and hockey and was a member of the Boston Globe All-Scholastic team as a senior...captured state championship in baseball in 1992...played American Legion, Babe Ruth and Little League ball...on his behalf, MLBPA Trust contributed $20,000 to Kristen's Gift at DHMC Developmental Center in Lebanon, NH in recognition of his 2006 NL Outstanding Pitcher Award...he was voted the recipient of the 2006 Darryl Kile award by his teammates...Chris and his wife, Alyson, have a son, Sam, and a daughter, Ava...the family makes their off-season home in Bedford, NH.

Returned to ML action for first time since Opening Day, 2007, but his return was short-lived after he experienced shoulder problems that forced him from his start on 8/10 at CHI. ... Was on DL, rehabbing from elbow surgery, until 7/30. Made a pair of rehab starts (7/20 at Springfield-AA and 7/24 at Memphis-AAA). ... Made season debut on 7/30 at ATL and worked 4.0 IP, allowing one run on five hits. Made a total of three starts & one relief appearance for the Cardinals. ... Was removed from 8/10 start at CHI due to right shoulder strain after 5.1 IP, allowing 4 runs (2 ER) in the loss. ... Returned to DL from 8/11 to 9/1. Made his first relief appearance since 2000 on 9/2 at ARI, a span of 144 starts between relief outings. ... Following 9/2 outing at ARI, he was shut down for the remainder of the season due to nerve irritation leading to his right shoulder. ... After a series of shoulder exams by nerve specialists, he opted not to undergo surgery following the season. ... He underwent right elbow surgery to transpose the ulnar nerve on 11/4 performed by Dr. George Paletta.
