Biography:
Carlos Juan Delgado is a graduate of Jose de Diego (PR) High School...Participated in baseball, volleyball and track and field...Joined the Major League Baseball All-Star team for the November, 2000 Japan Series...Also was a member of the Major League Baseball All-Star team that played a series of games in Japan in November, 1998...Was named the Neil MacCarl Award Winner as the Blue Jays Player of the Year by the Toronto chapter of the BBWAA in both 1997 and 1998...Named the Player of the Year by the New York Chapter of the BBWAA in 2000...Was the 2000 recipient of the Hank Aaron Award for the American League...Started the Extra Bases Foundation to fund charitable organizations that focus on improving the lives of children in Canada, the United States and Puerto Rico...The foundation supports organizations such as Casa Juan Bosco, which provides snacks, tutoring and activities to keep children off the streets and out of trouble in Delgado's hometown of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico...Donated money for each home run hit during the 2006 season to Extra Bases...Carlos and Extra Bases donated money to the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in 2006...Participated in a home run derby against Carlos Beltran on January 29, 2006 at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in Puerto Rico...Proceeds went to benefit a scholarship fund for the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School...Was the 2006 National recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award, which he accepted before Game Three of the World Series...Received a Thurman Munson Award on January 30, 2007, and was also named the Sports Humanitarian of the Year by the New Jersey Sports Writers Association on January 28, 2007...Was honored with the Joan Payson Award, given annually by the New York Chapter of the BBWAA, for his outstanding community service on January 28, 2007...In 2007 and again in 2008, he donated $100,000 to the Extra Bases Foundation...The Mets Foundation matched the donation...Is a member of the New York Action Team, part of a national youth volunteer program administered by the Major League Baseball Players Trust and Volunteers of America that is inspiring and training the next generation of volunteers...Held a one-day fantasy camp at Roberto Clemente Stadiumin Puerto Rico in January of 2008 to raisemoney for his charity, Extra Bases...In January, 2009, donated $350,000 to numerous charities throughout his native Puerto Rico as well as the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx, NY.

with 100 or more RBI to tie him with Vladimir Guerrero, Chipper Jones and Jim Thome for the fourthmost 100 RBI seasons among active players, behind Manny Ramirez (12), Alex Rodriguez (11), and Frank Thomas (11)...Had a .285 (83-291) batting average with runners on base, with 19 home runs and 96 RBI...Batted .273 (106-388) vs. righthanded pitching with 26 home runs and 74 RBI...For the year, he
