Biography:
Aaron Shawn Estes...he and wife, Heather, have two sons, Jackson (September 13, 2003) and Cody (October 24, 2004)... turned down a scholarship offer from Stanford University to sign with the Mariners...was named to the Arizona Fall League's team of the decade in 2001...1991 graduate of Douglas High School in Minden, NV, Estes hurled four no-hitters at the high school level and earned Nevada High School Player of the Year honors as a senior...has participated in numerous charitable endeavors during his career, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Wender Weis Foundation, the "Stay in School" Program and the American Sports Institute...honored with the 1999 Silver Hope Award by the Bay Area Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
He signed as a free agent with San Diego on Jan. 10. He made his only 2006 start on April 5, allowing three runs over six innings vs. San Francisco. On April 7, he went on the disabled list with a strained left elbow, and he missed the rest of the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on June 7. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on Aug. 25.
