Biography:
Justin Craig Duchscherer...name is pronounced DUKE-sher...graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock, Texas in 1996 where he played baseball, basketball, and tennis...also played Little League, Pony League, and Colt League baseball...was originally signed by Boston scout Luke Wrenn...his uncle, Baxter McAlister, played minor league baseball in the Houston Astros organization...hosted the "Battle of the Bay" Video game challenge during Spring Training in 2006 and 2007 which raised funds for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society Arizona Chapter... his first child, Evan Jacob, was born the day he made his A's debut, September 9, 2003.

Was 1-1 with an 8.71 ERA in two starts and 0-0 with a 20.77 ERA in three relief appearances in two stints with the Rangers...was purchased from Tulsa on July 23 and made his Major League debut in a start on July 25 (game 1) versus Baltimore...was a 6-5 winner (6.2 ip, 6 h, 4 r, 4 er, 1 bb, 5 so) to become just the second Texas pitcher in the last eight years to win a start in his first big league game...was optioned to Oklahoma between games of that doubleheader... was recalled by Texas on September 4 and had an 18.00 ERA (16 er in 8.0 ip) in four games...lost his only start on September 25 vs. Seattle and tied a club record by hitting three batters in that game...in three relief appearances, he stranded his only inherited runner and first batters were 1 for 3...opponents hit .353, including .375 by left-handed batters and .321 by right-handers...combined to go 13-6 with a 2.47 ERA with 176 strikeouts in 25 starts for Trenton, Tulsa, and Oklahoma...set pro career highs for innings (167.2) and strikeouts...held the opposition to a .218 batting average...began the season with Boston's Trenton club and had the Eastern League's sixth lowest ERA (2.44) at the time of the trade...was traded to the Texas organization on June 12 and went 4-0 with a 2.08 ERA in six starts at Tulsa...was sent to Oklahoma after his July 25 start in Texas...at the end of Rangers' season, he joined Peoria in the Arizona Fall League and was 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA (3 er in 18.0 ip) and 23 strikeouts in six starts.
