He, his wife Rosangel and daughter Rosangel reside in Maracay, VZ during the off-season...Participates in the Detroit Tigers Autographed Memorabilia Donation Program, is a financial supporter of Play Baseball Detroit, sponsored several Hispanic youth during the annual Fiesta Tigres! game, is actively involved with Tigers Dreams Come True and he participated in the Tigers Winter Caravan.
Was selected from AA Carolina on June 20... played 55 games in left field and 30 games at third base... the Marlins
went 54-31 in Cabrera's 85 starts, 20-10 at 3B and 34-21 in LF... ranked among the NL's rookie leaders in home runs
(2nd), RBI (2nd), slugging percentage (.468, 1st), extra-base hits (36, T-4th), batting average (7th) and multi-hit
games (T-9th)... made his ML debut on June 20 vs. Tampa Bay and hit a two-run game-ending HR in the bottom
of the 11th inning, the 11th Marlin to homer in his debut with the Club and fifth Florida rookie to do so, joining Alex

third player in baseball since 1900 to hit a walk-off homer in his Major League debut, joining California's Bill Parker
(9/9/71 vs. MIL) and Cleveland's Josh Bard (8/23/02 vs. Seattle)... the HR by Cabrera and Parker were their first
Major League hits and came in extra innings (Parker's in 12th inning).. debuted at 20 years, 63 days old, the second-
youngest Marlin to debut in franchise history, behind LHP Felix Heredia (20 years, 52 days)... according to David
Vincent at SABR, Cabrera became the sixth-youngest player to homer in his first game, behind LOU's (American
Association) Scott Stratton (18.021 on 4/21/1888), NYG's Whitey Lockman (18.345 on 7/5/1945), DET's Denny
McLain (19.176 on 9/21/1963), CIN's Ted Tappe (19.224 on 9/14/1950) and KC's Clint Hurdle (20.050 on 9/18/1977)...
also was the third Venezuelan player to homer in his first game and second Marlin, joining ARI's Alex Cabrera
(28.184, 8th inning on 6/26/00) and FLA's Alex Gonzalez (21.191, 8th inning on 8/25/98)... began his Major League
career by hitting in five of his first six games (.261, 6x22, HR, 6 RBI)... followed with a 0x15 slide over four games (June
27-30) before posting a career-high four hits on July 1 vs. Atlanta... on July 1 vs. Atlanta, became the second Marlin
in team history to post four extra-base hits in a game (with Sheffield on April 10, 1994 at SD)... matched a Club singlegame
record by scoring four runs (10th time in team history)... homered twice in that game, off Mike Hampton and
Roberto Hernandez... named the Pepsi Rookie of the Month for July as he hit .318 (27x85, 5 HR, 21 RBI), joining teammate
Dontrelle Willis, who earned the honor in June... also named Pepsi Rookie of the Month for September, as he
hit .311 with three homers and 20 RBI... hit in 12 of his final 16 games of the season (.364, 20x55)... was tied for 7th in
the NL with 20 September RBI... drove in 48 runs after the All-Star Break, tied for 11th in the NL... hit .365, 10 HR, 59 RBI
and nine SB in 69 games at AA Carolina... left the Southern League ranking 2nd in batting, first in hits, RBI, doubles,
extra-base hits and slugging (.609)... was twice named the BC Powder Southern League Hitter of the Week: April 18-
24 (.517, 15x29) and April 25-May 1 (.500, 12x24).. posted a 15-game hitting streak, April 22-May 8, the longest in the
Southern League in 2003... played in 15 regular season games for Aragua (Venezuela) during the offseason, hitting
.327 with four homers and 11 RBI... added a .288 mark with seven homers and 15 RBI in 20 playoff games as his team
